Dancing

We saw two dance shows, one at our hotel, the other at a Cultural Village. Some dances were narrative, others solely aesthetic. One evening we went to a small bar that was almost deserted. There was a band playing covers and Maori versions of contemporary songs. A few locals took us under their wing and tried to teach us to dance "island style". I don't think the lessons stuck, but it was a lot of fun. Even when dancing to contemporary music, the distinctive moves crept in.
