Coconut Husking(Click on a picture to see a larger version.) The time at the Cultural Village was interesting. We learned a lot about fishing and the local fauna. The guides taught us a few Maori words. Then we came to coconut husking. Our guide, James, asked if anyone knew the name of the tool used for breaking the outer husk of the coconut. Noone did. He said it slowly and made us repeat it after him, "Sharp stick." He then demonstrated the technique. |
